The annual Steampunk Festival in Lincoln – The Weekend At The Asylum – sees thousands of people flock to the city for the largest Steampunk event in Europe.
Hosted by The Victorian Steampunk Society, this popular weekend sees the streets of the Cathedral Quarter thronging with Steampunk enthusiasts from across the world – a sight not to be missed!
Steampunk involves a celebration of all things Neo-Victorian and Gothic, brought into modern-day society. The steam-powered world is brought to life through art, literature, theatre, comedy, and dazzling steampunk fashion. It really needs to be seen to be believed!
Events take place at various venues across the city, including Lincoln Castle, The Assembly Rooms and Bishop Grosseteste University. Catch live music, theatre and comedy in the evenings, or learn more about Steampunk at workshops and talks during the convention.
The highlight of the festival is the Annual Empire Ball, where attendees really do go all out with their full-on Steampunk costumes. Alternatively, why not test your brains at the Steampunk quiz with a sausage and mash supper? Delicious!

You need to buy a wristband for entry to the Daytime Events.
A wristband gives you weekend access to all daytime activities, including: literary and art exhibitions; a full programme of workshops & presentations; activities at Lincoln Castle; entry to the Bazaar Electica (the world’s largest Steampunk market!); opening and closing ceremonies; gaming streams; and a tea duelling championship.
