Tattershall Castle

The Great Tower of Tattershall Castle is one of the earliest examples of a brick-built structure. Erected by Ralph Lord Cromwell, Treasurer of England between 1430 and 1450, it has been referred to as “the finest piece of medieval brick-work in England”.

General facilities include the following:

  • Dogs on leads are welcome.


  • Free parking 50 yards from entrance.
  • Mobility car park next to castle entrance.
  • Guests are offered wheelchair access, Braille guide and Sensory Experience
  • Wheelchair access to ground floor only.
  • Gravel paths throughout the site.
  • Spiral staircase with 149 steps in the tower – no lift.
